Indian Navy Rescues Fishing Vessel from Pirates in the Arabian Sea

The Indian Navy released a statement on Friday night (3/29), confirming their successful rescue of a fishing vessel attacked by pirates in the Arabian Sea, along with its crew from Pakistan.

Information about the piracy threat to the Al-Kambar vessel had been received by the Indian Navy since Thursday night (3/28). Two Indian Navy warships were promptly diverted to confront the threat.

Reportedly, the vessel was attacked by nine armed pirates. The Indian Navy tactically and intensively acted for over 12 hours to handle the situation, ultimately compelling the pirates to surrender.

In an official statement, the Indian Navy confirmed the rescue of 23 crew members, all of whom were Pakistani nationals. The vessel was successfully intercepted on Friday morning.

Following the successful rescue, the Indian Navy stated that special teams were conducting a thorough inspection and ensuring the safety of the fishing vessel.

Sanitation measures and feasibility checks were carried out before the vessel was escorted to safer waters to resume fishing activities.

Such rescue operations are not unfamiliar to the Indian Navy, which routinely conducts such operations when Indian or foreign-flagged vessels are threatened by piracy or attacks.

Particularly given the increasing incidents of attacks in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, India has increased the presence of its warships as a preventive measure in the region.

Through this action, the Indian Navy not only demonstrates success in protecting vessels and crews from pirate threats but also reinforces its role as a stabilizing and preventive force in vital waters for regional security.

This success reaffirms India's commitment to maintaining peace and maritime security in the region.
