A Quebec honored at the Tribeca Film Festival - The film "Whitewash" Quebec director Emanuel Hoss-Desmarais was honored Thursday at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
The work written by Mr. Hoss-Desmarais and screenwriter Marc Tulin won the Best New Narrative Director prize, awarded a first or second feature films presented in the festival.
Based in northern Quebec, "Whitewash" tells the long and difficult redemption Bruce Landry, whose life changes when he crushes a man with his snowplow on a stormy night.
The film stars American actor Thomas Haden Church and Mark Labrèche. Emanuel Hoss-Desmarais has made numerous advertising campaigns as well as three short films, including "Marius Borodin," which won the favorite of the jury at the Fantasia Festival in 2010.
"Whitewash" was produced by Luc Déry and Kim McCraw of micro_scope, producers of "Fire" by Denis Villeneuve and "Monsieur Lazhar," Philippe Falardeau.
The 12th Tribeca Film Festival ends Sunday.
