Melancholia Film - The film begins with a dreamlike opening sequence involving several of the main characters and images of space. It is possible to analyze this sequence to perform the same function as an opera overture, as it introduces many visual leitmotifs of the film. A giant planet is shown threatening the Earth approaches, possibly destroying a planetary collision. The film is then divided into two parts.
In the first part, called the "Justine", the young couple Justine and Michael married in the castle-like home of sister Justine, Claire and her husband. The glamorous and expensive party is far from satisfactory, as Justine divorced parents openly fight dinner. Auto Justine is separated from her sister, her new husband, advertising executive boss and his parents. She fled the party, and became increasingly sad and hopeless night. Several times, she looks a particular star, which seems to shine than normal. Claire's husband, John says he is the star Antares, and later in the movie star disappears. At the end of the game, leaving Justine Michael, which means that their marriage is annulled.
